Informed Consent for Telehealth Services
Last Updated: March 16, 2026
Introduction
Welcome to YouthFuel. Before you begin using our telehealth services, it is important that you understand and consent to the nature of telehealth, its benefits and risks, and your rights and responsibilities as a patient. Please read this document carefully.
By creating an account and using YouthFuel's telehealth platform, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to this Informed Consent for Telehealth Services.
What Is Telehealth?
Telehealth is the delivery of healthcare services through electronic communications, including but not limited to:
- Asynchronous consultations: You complete a health questionnaire and submit medical information electronically. A licensed healthcare provider reviews your information and develops a treatment plan without a real-time interaction.
- Synchronous consultations: Real-time video or audio communication between you and a licensed healthcare provider, when clinically appropriate.
- Secure messaging: Exchange of health-related messages between you and your care team through our encrypted platform.
- Remote monitoring: Tracking of health metrics and treatment outcomes over time through our platform.
YouthFuel primarily uses asynchronous telehealth consultations, where a licensed physician or nurse practitioner reviews your submitted health information and makes clinical decisions regarding your care.
Benefits of Telehealth
Telehealth services through YouthFuel may offer several benefits, including:
- Improved access to healthcare without the need for in-person visits
- Convenience of receiving care from your home or another private location
- Reduced travel time and associated costs
- Access to licensed healthcare providers across multiple states
- Discreet and confidential consultations for sensitive health conditions
- Streamlined prescription management and medication delivery
Risks and Limitations of Telehealth
As with any healthcare service, telehealth has potential risks and limitations:
- Technical limitations: Electronic systems and internet connections may fail, causing delays or interruptions in care. Poor connectivity may impact the quality of consultations.
- Clinical limitations: Some conditions cannot be adequately diagnosed or treated through telehealth alone. Your provider may determine that an in-person evaluation is necessary.
- Information limitations: Despite our best efforts, the information you provide may be insufficient for accurate diagnosis or treatment. Incomplete or inaccurate health history may lead to clinical errors.
- Security risks: While we use industry-standard encryption and security measures, no electronic system is completely secure. There is a potential risk of unauthorized access to your health information.
- Prescription limitations: Certain medications, including controlled substances, may have restrictions on telehealth prescribing under federal and state law.
- Emergency limitations: Telehealth is not a substitute for emergency care. If you are experiencing a medical emergency, call 911 or go to your nearest emergency room immediately.
